Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick “Zinc Pink” – Vintage Luminesque Formula (c. early–mid 1960s)
A luminous mid-century vanity classic.
This vintage Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick in the shade “Zinc Pink” comes from Revlon’s early Luminesque Moon Drops line, a glamorous lipstick range introduced during the early 1960s when Revlon was emphasizing radiant, light-reflecting cosmetic formulas and jewel-like packaging.
The lipstick features the distinctive gold ribbed metal tube paired with a deep emerald green base and cap, a design strongly associated with Moon Drops cosmetics of the 1960–1965 era. The base label confirms the shade and formula:
“Moon Drops Lipstick – Luminesque – Zinc Pink – Net Wt. .09 oz – Revlon N.Y., N.Y.”
The Luminesque formula was marketed as a softly luminous lipstick designed to create a brighter, glowing lip finish under vanity lighting and photography—very much aligned with the beauty aesthetics of early 1960s Hollywood glamour.
This piece is a wonderful collectible example of mid-century cosmetic packaging, perfect for:
vintage vanity displays

Historical Context
The Moon Drops cosmetic line was part of Revlon’s push in the early 1960s toward more glamorous, light-reflective makeup designed to complement the era’s growing influence of television, flash photography, and studio lighting. The Luminesque range highlighted luminous pigments meant to give lips a radiant finish.
Revlon packaging during this period emphasized luxury vanity presentation, using metallic tubes and jewel-tone plastics to resemble small cosmetic treasures on a dressing table.
Condition Notes:
The tube shows visible wear and age-related patina, particularly on the green base where some surface finish loss is present. The gold ribbed metal shows minor spotting consistent with age. The original bottom label remains intact and clearly legible.
Lightly swatched with clean, disposable lipstick spatula on the side of the bullet for color profile. Swatched area of the bullet is included in images, as well as the lipstick's color profile on white satin paper and black matte paper.
As with most vintage cosmetics, this piece is best considered a collectible display item rather than for cosmetic use.
