An extraordinarily sculptural decorative ewer by Castilian, Item No. 5048, pairing a sleek, elongated porcelain body with elaborate bronze-mounted figural ornamentation.

The highly polished glaze appears nearly black in ordinary lighting, revealing subtle deep aubergine and plum-purple undertones as the light moves across its surface.

That rich, almost-black finish creates a striking contrast against the warm aged bronze metalwork and gives the piece a dramatic, jewel-toned presence.

Its sweeping openwork handle rises into an elegant floral design, while the base is encircled by flowing sculptural forms featuring two Art Nouveau-inspired female figures or sirens emerging among stylized waves and sinuous scrollwork.

The elongated spout, exaggerated curved handle, floral detailing, and fluid figural treatment give the piece a distinctly theatrical Art Nouveau and Jugendstil Revival character.

The design is particularly reminiscent of the celebrated WMF Jugendstil figural ewers of the early 20th century, while this piece is distinctly marked and identified as Castilian rather than WMF.

That influence is especially apparent in the elongated silhouette, organic floral handle, sweeping lines, and integration of female figures into the surrounding metalwork.

The underside retains its Castilian branding and original Item No. 5048 identification, along with a Made in China label and manufacturer notation specifying decorative use only.
