A striking piece of vintage Swedish art glass, this petite vase features a beautifully sculpted amethyst-purple interior color suspended within thick clear glass, creating wonderful depth and movement as the light passes through it.

The rounded upper body transitions into a tapered clear base and finishes with a dramatically flared rim, giving the piece a distinctly Scandinavian modern silhouette despite its compact size. Measuring approximately 3.5 inches tall × 2.25 inches wide, it works beautifully as a small bud vase, vanity accent, shelf display, curio cabinet piece, or addition to a collection of vintage Scandinavian glass.

The underside is hand-signed “R. Strand,” identifying the piece with Swedish glass designer Rune Strand. The signature is an especially appealing detail for collectors of signed studio glass and mid-century Scandinavian design.

Its combination of amethyst purple, crystal-clear glass, substantial weight, organic form, and hand-finished character makes this tiny vase feel much more substantial than its size suggests.

Condition Notes:

Vintage pre-owned condition with signs of age, storage, and previous handling. There is visible dirt and debris inside the vase that I have been unable to fully remove, and this can be seen in the photographs. Because of the narrow opening and construction of the piece, the interior has been difficult to clean thoroughly.

The glass may also show minor surface marks, fine scratches, bubbles, or other small irregularities consistent with age and handcrafted vintage glass.

The interior neck is frosted ground. This piece may have been a perfume decanter and is missing the stopper.
